Over the last two decades, scientists have made great strides towards understanding the breeding, wintering, and migratory ecology of the Rusty Blackbird. The International Rusty Blackbird Working Group has identified a set of critical research needs and long-term goals to advance the conservation of the Rusty Blackbird. In addition, the IRBWG will initiate a three-year Rusty Blackbird Spring Migration Blitz in the spring of 2014 to learn more about migratory timing, hotspots, and patterns.
